4Story: Change GUI Font
Fun fact: that hideous Times New Roman font can be changed. In Gates of Andaron, the GUI font of choice was Arial or Tahoma, but there's a universe of fonts out there...

Kudos to the administrator at Zemi Games forums for posting the original guide; however, I dared to dream beyond Arial and Times New Roman, and this guide is the fruit of such thoughts.
Requirements
- Microsoft Windows with 4Story installed
- Access to a user account with administrative privileges
- Font of choice installed in Windows
Applying the Tweak
- Make sure 4Story isn't open.
- Hold down the Windows logo key and hit R simultaneously. The Run window should open, typically in the bottom left corner.
- Type "regedit.exe" (minus the quotation marks) and hit Enter. The Registry Editor should open.
- Navigate to HK_CURRENT_USER/Software/Zemi Interactive/4Story and select Settings. A large list of entries should appear in the right pane of the window.
- Find and double-click Font. A new Edit String window should appear.
- Under Value data:, type in all-caps the family name of the font you want to use and hit OK.
- Run 4Story. The first instance of the change should be the percentage text in the middle of the loading bar. If you see it, congratulations. If not, see the Troubleshooting section of the post.
Troubleshooting
"The loading bar in 4Story and the login screen has no text!" or "The loading bar is in Arial font even though I specified otherwise."
- Make sure the font family name isn't misspelled and that it is actually installed on your computer. Microsoft has a guide on how to install fonts; if you prefer a walkthrough, there's several on YouTube.
- Ensure that you're typing the family name of the font. Some examples of what not to do include:
- Times New Roman (not all the letters are in capitals)
- TIMES NEW ROMAN REGULAR (refers to a specific font within the font family)
- TIMES.TTF (refers to the font file)
- Examples of fonts I've tested and confirmed working include:
- TIMES
- ARIAL
- EXOCET
- TAHOMA
- LINUX BIOLINUM G (the one I'm using right meow)
- CONSTANTIA
- Sometimes, the font simply won't cooperate no matter what you do; I'm inclined to believe it's the font file rather than the convention. If you can prove otherwise, let me know.
"The font works, but it's too big/small!"
- Follow steps 1-4 in Applying the Tweak
- Double-click FontSize; a new window shoudl open.
- Change that key's value to an amount appropriate to your needs, then click OK.
- Run 4Story.
"I dun fucked up, what are the default values for these keys?"
- Font is TIMES.
- FontSize is 68.
- Several years ago, there was a North American release of 4Story called Gates of Andaron, published by GameForge.
